Marlene Handy

Marlene Ann Weickel Handy was born January 22, 1941, in Jefferson County, KY to the late Leonard and Estelle Knight Weickel. She departed this life Thursday June 18, 2026, at her home in Simpsonville, KY, having attained the age of eighty-five years, four months, and twenty - seven days of age.

She was a retired executive assistant for General Electric, loved to travel, enjoyed horses, and collecting antiques. She enjoyed preparing and sharing wonderful meals with family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was united in marriage in April 1967 to Harold Hayes Handy who preceded her in death on January 24, 2018. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son: Shawn Handy and one brother: Bruce Wieckel.

Survivors include: three daughters and sons in law: Shannon and Michael Maccaferri of Simpsonville, KY, Juliet and Steven Flood of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Jacqueline and David Spradlin of Louisville; one son: Shayne Handy of Kentucky; five grandchildren: Emily Flood, Rhen Handy, Shayne Handy II, Cassandra Pape, and William Spradlin; one great-grandchild: Mariah Handy; one sister Barbara Brown of Louisville; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Benny and Reba Handy of Louisville, Bill and Mae Handy of Greensburg, Rex Handy of Columbia and Wilma Jean Landis of Greensburg plus a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Marlene Ann Weickel Handy will be conducted at 2 PM Central Time Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Foster-Toler Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg, with Bro. Jordan Abell officiating. Burial will follow in the Greensburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, June 22, 2026, from 4 PM until 6:30 PM Central time at Foster Toler Curry Funeral Home and beginning at 7 AM Tuesday until time of the funeral service.
