Chanda Elyse Calhoun was born June 26, 1984, in Green County, KY to the late David Sylvester Calhoun and Kay Frances Williams Calhoun who survives. She departed this life on Monday, July 28, 2025, having attained the age of forty-one years, one month and two days of age.
She had made a profession of faith in Christ at an early age. She was baptized at 2nd Baptist Church of Greensburg by Rev. James Jackson. Chanda was a current member of Jacob Grove Baptist Church where she served on the Culinary Committee, creator of church programs, was a choir member, and worked with the youth as well as being the Children’s Sunday School Teacher.
Chanda was a Green County Dragon and played basketball, softball, ran track and was an avid sports fan. Along with her accomplishments, her greatest was being a devoted mother to her children. She was a Campbellsville Eagle Mom, loved football, basketball, track, and softball. Chanda was a Notary Public, a Librarian at Taylor County Library where she was the Circulation Desk Manager, an Interlibrary Loan Specialist, a Louisville Cardinal Fan and a former manager at McDonalds in Springfield.
Besides her father David Sylvester Calhoun, Chanda was preceded in death by her grandfather and grandmother Leevester “Snook” Calhoun and Ann Geraldine Williams Brashear; great uncle: Amos Gerald Williams and special friend: Casey Dewayne Hines.
She is survived by two sons: Shaiden Ta-Lynn Calhoun and A`mare Rizzo McKenzie; one daughter: Laila Rose Calhoun all of Campbellsville; her mother: Kay Williams Calhoun of Campbellsville; five brothers: Trent L. Williams and DeMichael Shea Calhoun of Campbellsville, Trenton Lamonte` Williams JR of Columbia, Kelvin DeWayne Murray of Fort Stewart, Georgia, David Leon Porter of Louisville, KY; Grandparents: James “Mann” and Alberta Thornton of Greensburg, and James Brashear of Elizabethtown, KY; her special friend: Josh Barbour of Campbellsville, KY, plus a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Chanda Calhoun will be conducted at 12 Noon EASTERN TIME Monday, August 4, 2025, at Campbellsville High School Gymnasium with Rev. Josh Miller and Rev. Tyrone Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Green County Memory Gardens in the Summersville Community in Green County, KY.
Visitation will be from 9 AM EASTERN TIME Monday, August 4, 2025, until the funeral hour at Campbellsville High School Gymnasium.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations go to Chandra’s children.
