Benny Holland Handy

Mr. Benny Holland Handy was born October 15, 1937, in Green County, KY to the late Herbert Lewis Handy and Sally Edna Hayes Handy. He departed this life Thursday, September 17, 2026, at his home in Louisville, KY having attained the age of eighty-eight years, eleven months and 2 days.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of 4th Avenue United Methodist Church in Louisville. Benny served in the United States Army Reserve, 100th Division from 1959-1961. He was a State Representative of KY from 1979-1984 and worked for City of Louisville in the Neighborhood Development Department during Mayor Harvey Sloane term. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, gardening and Historic Restoration of Old Homes Preservationist.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Herbert Lewis Handy and Sally Edna Hayes Handy; son: Frederick “Fred” Handy; two sisters: Virginia Tutt and Opal Tutt; three brothers: Homer Handy, Ed Handy and Harold Handy.

He is survived by his wife: Reba Ellen Chapman Handy; one son: Gregory Handy and significant other: Dale Anne Rennie all of Louisville; one sister: Wilma Landis; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Bill and Mae Handy and Rex Handy, all of Greensburg, plus a host of other relatives and friends.

Following Mr. Handy’s wishes the family chose cremation. There will be a Memorial Service at 2 P.M. central time on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial will be in the Greensburg Cemetery
