Arlene Chaudoin Durrett Shepherd, 94, of Greensburg, Kentucky (formerly of Shepherdsville, Kentucky), returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, in Greensburg. Born May 3, 1931, in Green County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Helen Harrison Milby Chaudoin and James Milton "Joe" Chaudoin. Arlene's life was a testament to love, faith, and family.
A member of Eastern Gate Baptist Church, Arlene was a woman of unwavering Christian faith. She read her Bible regularly and faithfully attended church when her health allowed. She possessed an exceptional ability to see the good in others, rarely uttering a negative word about anyone. This kindness and respect for others defined her character, making Arlene a pillar of strength and stability for her family.
With a legendary sweet tooth and a wonderful sense of humor, Arlene's passion for life was evident in her many hobbies and interests. She loved fishing, proudly displaying her trophy bass in her kitchen for visitors to see. She was an avid reader and could often be found solving word puzzles. She also displayed her creativity through various arts and crafts projects. Last, but certainly not least, she was a formidable and competitive Rummy 500 player.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands Ores Durrett and Edward Shepherd; siblings William Chaudoin, Bonita Chaudoin, Harold Chaudoin, Garland "Cotton" Chaudoin, Cornella Williams, Joyce Marr, Lera DeSpain and Hallie Sharpe and 4 grandchlldren.
Family was the centerpiece of Arlene's life. Among those she leaves behind are her children, Greg (Lisa) Durrett, Stan (Kathy) Durrett, Barry Durrett, Millicent Durrett; and Patricia (Blaine) Daugherty; stepchildren Dean Shepherd, David Clinton (Cindy) Shepherd, Dennis Shepherd, Connie Starr, and Susan (Tom) Bernardi; 26 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren, plus a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services officiated by Bro. Daniel Marcum will be held at 11 am Central Time Friday, September 26, 2025, at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home with the family welcoming friends and visitors from 9 am until the funeral hour at 11 am Central Time. The committal service will be at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greensburg City Cemetery.
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be donations to the Gideons for Bibles. These can be made at the funeral Home.
